A new planet has been discovered in our solar system. Orangiter, long considered to be one of Saturn's moons, has now been reclassified as a planet due to its sheer fruitiness.

Orangiter, named after the Roman god of oranges, has 9 oranges in its orbit. They are all very sweet, although a little cold.

Update - 11/21/05

It was just my computer after all. I was connecting to the internet with a Sprint EVDO card, and the web accelerator was causing the poor image quality. I was puzzled because it was happening in both my Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers.

I'll try to save images in gif format whenever I'm not using gradients, so that those of you with web acceleration can still see at least some of my oranges.

The Big Orange

Jealous of apples' fame, a particularly large orange attempted to stir up some publicity for citrus fruits by making a scene in New York City.

The humongous orange rolled up the side of the Empire State Building and planted itself firmly on top, thinking that its fruity act would result in the city's name change to "The Big Orange."

Unfortunately for the poor little big orange, a particularly strong gust of wind launched the pulpy fruit into the ocean before the media arrived.

Organic Chandelier

Inspired by beautiful crystal chandeliers in a crumpled catalog that happened to lie beneath their orange tree, these oranges decided to arrange themselves into a pulpy chandelier.

When the owner of the grove discovered the oranges in their chandelier formation, he carefully wrapped them up and brought them home. There, he replanted them in the dining room ceiling, where they now grow proudly.

Oranges can be bred as alarm clock casings. Of course, the gears and machinery of the clock still have to be added by the craftsman, but the basic structure can be grown organically.

An added benefit to the consumer is the pulpiness of the orange. The pulpiness serves as an added reminder not to throw down or forcefully hit the alarm clock in the morning. Having to clean up a pulpy smashed orange is an undesirable task, especially right after waking up.
